Styling a country cottage with traditional rugs and Kilims
New arrivals...
We recently received delivery of a lovely collection of vintage Persian rugs (between 30-50 years old) that are the most beautiful quality with cosy, sumptuous softness.
We have also received a large delivery of fabulous flat weave Kilims in versatile soft shades, ranging from runners to large floor rugs. Both styles of rug are quickly finding homes before we can even get them listed on the website!
The Traditional Rugs
We took this gorgeous vintage Quashgai rug to a lovely country cottage to get some wonderful and inspiring images of this very popular rug style in a home. This particular Persian rug is about 50 years old and was is created by knotting wool on wool, giving a more relaxed finish. The pile is slightly longer on these rugs which makes them very soft to walk on and ideal for styling a home for a cosy atmosphere. The traditional Persian colours compliment a huge spectrum of colour schemes. This rug really sets the tone for the room while also giving an opportunity to work with the many accent colours in the design
The Kilims
We thought it would be fun to take a couple of the new Kilims to the house as well, just to see the different look this type of rug would give the room. We love the soft tones of the new Kilims, and they work particularly well in this scheme. Kilims are very robust and are easy to style in wide variety of homes. The new delivery we recieved has lots of soft pinks, greens and taupes, blues and rusts. Being flatwoven they are reversible so they have twice the floorlife before they need a full clean!
